Kcell Company, the leading GSM carrier in Kazakhstan announced the review of company's development in 2009
At the present time Kcell is the leading carrier in mass and corporate segments of cellular communication users. In 2009 the company increased the coverage area and at the present day Kcell and Activ communication is present in 2366 cities and settlements of the Republic. Number of settlements with population over 2000 people covered with Kcell communication increased by 82% compared to the last year. According to company's license obligations, 99% of roads are covered with communication. Network optimization was carried out in all major cities of Kazakhstan in 2009. General number of base stations launched by the company within 10 years has increased 3500 units. Besides that modernization of Kcell network for 3G communication with application of the most modern technologies was realized.
Key values of GSM Kazakhstan/Kcell are innovation, reliability, social responsibility, promptness and aspiration to be a part of the country the company works it - were reflected by Kcell new look. It symbolizes the new turn of company's history development and is a part of the strategy aimed at strengthening of Kcell's leading positions at cellular market of RK.
There were certain changes in tariff policy of the company as a whole: special regional tariffs were implemented in 5 regions of the Republic with more profitable cost of calls inside the network at the market, cost of international calls was decreased by more than 60% and now subscribers may call to 191 directions for only 49 tenge per minute. The cost of international calls to CIS and Baltic countries was decreased and is 29 tenge. Besides that a new campaign tariff offer "Communication Freedom-2" functions since November and subject to conditions thereof if subscriber pays just 19 tenge for connection and 19 tenge per day for tariff use, he/she gets up to 30 minutes of free communication. Positive changes have taken place in roaming policy of the company: for Kcell subscribers the threshold of advance payment was decreased to 6 thousand tenge, and the cost of incoming calls in 20 most popular countries was decreased to 50 tenge per minute.
Active growth of internet traffic was evidenced in Kcell network in 2009 and it grew by a half comparing to last year's figures, and the number of data transfer services users increased by more than 38%. It became possible due to high penetration level of EDGE technology (18 cities of the RK) and implementation of special GPRS packages which decreased the cost of 1 Mb to 2 tenge.
In the framework of the strategy being realized directed to increase of subscribers' servicing quality, Kcell opened the second call center in Shymkent city with priority of servicing in state language. Subscription office will be opened in Semey in December. Besides that the project of sms-evaluation of clients servicing in subscription offices was launched. According to statistics about 50% of subscribers who visited subscription office sent sms with evaluation of operator's work quality.
Kcell has been taking active position of socially responsible business within 10 years of its work, it participates in support and development of education, sports and revival of national culture traditions. Over 50 projects were realized in 2009, including regional coverage projects, such as "Active School", support of "Special Olympics" project, "Youth Banks of Ideas Activ" in 4 cities of Kazakhstan, Hot Line of free legal consultations with National League of Consumers in Kazakhstan.
