Kcell has become a communication partner of the Almaty Marathon


The eighth Almaty Marathon will become larger — 17 thousand runners from 17 regions of Kazakhstan and 53 countries of the world will take part in it. Kcell has become a communication partner of this large-scale event and provided communications and mobile Internet services to the organizing committee.

The charitable Almaty Marathon has become a traditional spring event for the city. Over eight years, it has been grown from 2.5 thousand to 17 thousand participants, and in 2013 entered the International Association of International Marathons and Distance Races AIMS, along with Boston, Amsterdam, New York and other mass races in 120 countries.

The largest running competition in the Central Asia will take place on April 21. That is pursuing goals related to charity. Participants of the marathon pay a registration fee, which is transferred to various social projects. Last year, the Courage to be the first Corporate Fund, the organizer of the event, sent 16 million tenge from the collected funds to equip sports grounds in the children’s hospice, in the boarding school of Issyk and in the boarding school for children with intellectual disabilities. This year, the fund plans to invest 26 million tenge for the construction of sports facilities in three social children’s institutions in Almaty. Participants of the Almaty Marathon will run to help to build the children’s sports grounds, as well as to feel unforgettable emotions at the victorious finish. The shortest marathon distance is only 3 km for children, the longest one is 42 km 195 meters. The most popular is 10 km, this year almost 9 thousand people will run it. The Kcell company, as a technical partner of the marathon, has provided SIM cards and mobile Internet for an electronic timekeeping system which records intermediate and final results on routes.

On the day of the marathon, some Almaty streets will be blocked. For Activ subscribers, participants of the SMART advertising program, Kcell made an informational mailing about blocking of the roads. It will help them to plan their moves in advance on Sunday.
